Duplicate content and what causes deindex or sandbox

It’s been quite some times i’m not talking about seo related issue.Instead of writing about it,i was just writing about komodo island new 7 wonders and newport beach houses in participation for a competition.As far as I know probably every webmaster or blogger have worried about this “scary monster” named duplicate content.So what is it exactly? Is it dangerous? Am I gonna get a penalty because of it?

First of all,let’s look a bit closer to what we call “news site”  .Whether it’s a Google news or some different news site outside Google.They released and published e.g Japan tsunami breaking news or Libya war conflict etc.It’s fair to say that this kind of site have a bigger chance because of duplicate content for same topic,same story perhaps.But why they were fine even untill now? Just for making it short,if you own a trusted site you won’t get a penalty because of duplicate content.Instead,you’ll get a nice feedback from human reviewer if you are just copying other  article just like that or they reported you.

You could be penalized if you have a repeated content in the same site exactly just like you have an article about vacation destination then you re-published it with a different title.In fact a 30 to 50% content match on your site could lead you to be  penalized,the same story on your site is the main problem .Not only it will make the search engine “bored” for seeing another twin bloat page but it will diluting everything ,pagerank,backlink etc and for worst it will not trust any content comes from your domain.Everything you build naturally will be vanished.This also could applied to entire duplicate article accross the web.The spider robot determine all one by one and then decide which one is the original and deserve to appear higher in rank.

The problem is some times people get penalized and mostly they don’t know what causes it.For your convinience,you should check your meta data,your meta tag have a look whether any duplicated there.Don’t go over tagging and your tag should be different form your meta keyword,avoid keyword stuffing.Don’t let your category archive indexed,your tags archive too if you are prioritizing your post,thus it will make you save from ‘dilution” and bloat page.Other factor is probably you have dropped a link where the site also has many external link to porn site,gambling etc.Too many broken links,404 pages and they got indexed.Sneaky redirect,doorway page,sneaky cloacked link,malware site,cookie cutter.So the problem of deindex is somewhere else and not a duplicate content.

Other that those factors I don’t know for sure but the owner of the site clearly know better than I do so you should check this and that ,everything.The system of the search engine is complicated,it won’t penalize your site just like that. For example if you are holding a PLR article and you attain to publish it but sadly you are litle bit too late because other have done it(although there is not much pre-publication factor gives effect),you will get a penalty if you still publish it anyway? or you own an auto generated content site more like a scrapper site or cookie cutter site like those affiliate sites?? No ,99% you wont but it will far better to use noindex,follow meta tag in this case for extreme prevention  and backed up with some backlinks.

Let’s say  you copied an article from other site and published on yours,do you will get a penalty? 99% you won’t but the most common effect is your article will not rank higher than other original made content, sadly if your article is more relevant it will go higher than the original but you will have trouble if the original author knows it and send you a nice email from an attorney.Mostly it will end up by deleting the page,no you won’t go to jail etc But for most,copy cats is bad.It could ruin your image,probably your creative brain could be dead also and of course your site will vanish from search engine index if the original author filled a DMCA request.

As a conclusion ,no matter what your article on your site about ,no matter it’s an affiliate site as long as it’s relevant with query search and you added an extra value to user experience I think you should be just fine.This is not an encouradgement for being a copy cat as you may know that this kind of site sorrounded by risks and now Google has updated it’s alghoritm which is bring a few changes that many seo people still figure it out.
