The Clarity of Diamonds
Clarity is an essential aspect of a diamond, and it’s crucial to know how to grade the clarity of a diamond prior to you purchase one. It’s, in reality, rather easy to study how to grade the clarity of a diamond. There are, in essence, two matters that you must interpret: Diamonds with visible inclusions and blemishes, and those that are ‘eye clean’ meaning that there are zero inclusions or blemishes that could be caught with the open eye. From there, the clarity of a diamond is farther analyzed into subcategories.
A lot of people erroneously believe that diamond clarity relates to how clear it is. This Is not so. Clarity, in reality, concerns to the inner and outside imperfectness of the diamond. The Finest diamonds, naturally get a grade of FL or IF – Flawless or Internally Flawless – signifying that it’s perfect. A grade of I-1, I-2 or I-3 implies that the diamond is imperfect, with a grade of I-3 being the worst.
A different grade is VVS1 and VVS2, which stands for that the diamond is very, very slightly imperfect; VS1 and VS2, meaning the diamond is very slightly imperfect; SI-1 and SI-2, which means that the diamond is slightly imperfect.
