As an undergraduate student, I worked every summer on building sites in Huddersfield, Yorkshire. It was hard work but it really toned my muscles and the pay was good. In later life, I enjoy the physical exercise associated with gardening. The pruning of 100 metres (328 feet) of 3 metre (10 feet) conifers is good for the arms, and digging patios is good for the arms and legs.
