An Internet Free Calling Trick to Use on your Cellphone

Internet Free CallingAsk anybody about how to make free calls on your cell phone, and you usually hear about using Skype on your Wi-Fi-enabled smart phone or going with a service that grants you to directly place free calls to numerous parts of the world as long as you agree to listen to a few advertisements first. However, all of these methods do look at a little stilted. Is there a way to use your cell phone to really make a free call – make as many as you want? If that’s what you want, you would be surprised to know that there really is a method. It does involve using the Internet technology of course, but once you accept that minor limitation the calls really are free.

How does this Internet free calling method work?

It actually works with a little feature that Google Voice has. Rather than placing your outgoing calls through your regular phone company, you can place them through Google Voice. All you have to do is to dial your Google Voice number on your cell phone, and then at the menu prompt, press 2 and then dial the number that you want. You are wondering about how this can really save you any money if you are utilizing a cell phone. You still are using your cell phone minutes aren’t you? If you use this little trick when you use a land line phone, it’s easily free because local calls on land line numbers for free. With a cell phone though, you have to resort to one other little trick.

This is what you need to do. On any cell phone carrier like AT&T or Verizon, they permit you to arrange a couple of numbers where you get to call as much as you want for free. It doesn’t matter what kind of phones these are – cell phones on other networks, land lines or anything. Verizon calls that program Friends and Family Plans, for example. If you have such a plan on your phone, you just need to set up your Google Voice number as among the free ones. That makes your call to Google Voice free. And then of course, Google Voice takes it up from there. You wait for the menu prompt and then press 2 and then dial the number that you want. You just got your free call to anywhere in the least.

Is this right though? Isn’t this like stealing from the cell phone companies? Surely, if there is anybody out there who asks to be taken advantage of, it’s the cell phone companies. They really let no chance pass by that they can use to squeeze you. However, is this Internet free calling method really fair still? That’s actually up to you and your sense of fairness.
