Road Rash was a popular game in the early 1990s. It was published in 1991 for the Sega Genesis gaming console and was afterward released for other gaming systems throughout the later 90s. There were four different versions of the game released, and you can still play a few of them online.

For example, this was one of the first games to feature trees, animals, traffic signs and additional images that made a more realistic gaming surroundings. The game is based on the concept of motorcycle road racing. As players raced down the road, they would have to contend with slower vehicles coming in their way, animals running into the road, and policemen trying to pull them over and write them a ticket. This more realistic gaming world was far different from the basic Atari games that did not include realistic graphics or much of a storyline.
How to Play Road Rash
Road Rash granted players to pick out a motorcycle and at later points in the game, a weapon. They jumped on their bikes and raced onto public California roadways to illegally race other motorcyclists. The goal was to place within the top three racers, which would give the player a pass to the next round of the game.
The first Road Rash game took players to the end of a road, where the finish line would be placed. Each time a round was reached,the road would stretch out a bit longer before reaching the finish line. In the second and third versions of the game, a series of interconnecting roads was used instead of going over and over the same road, each level.
Players remained in the races until they either destroyed their motorcycle and did not have the cash to repair the damage or got busted by the police. The second and third versions of the game expanded the fun by providing two-player modes were two people could race against each other on a side-by-side viewing screen.
